Astana has fallen to the worst ranking world tour team, and they are taking action against their riders.
Astana has served termination notice to 5 riders on their team for low performance. Javier Romo, Leandro Basso, and 3 other un named riders have received notice as of last week that they are out. This tip comes from an inside source who has leaked the information to us.
Given the UCI’s very strict rules that must exist in all riders contract, it will be very difficult for the team to officially execute these contract terminations. Terminating one contract for a low performance is hard enough, terminating 5 is something that we’ve never seen in professional cycling. This is because the UCI has specific clauses that must exist in all riders contracts, for their protection.
