There was no stopping Remco Evenepoel from taking victory today on the soil of his homeland, Belgium. The 22 year old launched a devastating attack 29km from the finish line at the top of the La Redoute climb. Many riders tried to follow both at the time of his attack, and those who he picked up ahead of him from the days breakaway but nobody could hold the wheel.

Remco showed that he was the strongest man today, and he stepped up big time for the Quickstep Alpha-Vinyl squad who had some terrible luck with crashes that took out one of their race leaders and world champion Julian Alpahillippe.

The sprint for the placings was brought in by a select chasing group where we saw the Belgians clean up the remaining spots on the podium with Quinten Hermans take a massive place for Wanty and super star Wout Van Aert take third on the day.

Remco’s next isn’t scheduled now for another month until the Tour of Norway, but be sure to stay tuned for more updates from Pro Tour Cycling.
