There has been so much anticipation of the world champions racing calendar since he announced that his primary objective of the season would be the Giro d’Italia. After winning the Liege Bastogne Liege, Vuelta Espana and World Road race championships in 2022, Remco is definitely a major favorite for every race he enters next season.

The word on the street is that Remco has taken even another level of motivation to his approach. At just 22 years of age, Remco still has several years of progression before he reaches his peak form, so all we can expect in 2023 is a better, stronger, and even more dynamic version of Remco.

The world champ will kick his calendar off on the 22nd of January at the Vuelta San Juan, then head over to the UAE tour a month later on the 20th of Feb, before heading into what are traditionally known as the giro prep races in Tirreno Adriatico in March, and the ardennes classics in April like Liege, and Flèche Wallone.

Our take on the approach to the Giro

So far Remco’s approach to the Giro is pretty solid. While it may only look like 6 races on a calendar, its actually 22 days of racing which is a decent amount of race load ahead of an objective. When he won the Vuelta in 2022, he had about a month between races, so it’s clear that Remco does well in training with altitude camps. With this in mind, and a parkour that will be challenging for Remco, but does suit him we think everything is in line for Remco to be successful at the Giro.
